NLL Gets New Jerseys?
It appears that starting next season, the NLL will have completely new jerseys according to inside lacrosse. And I'll warn you, they are kind of odd. These jerseys were just released, so you'll be among the first to see what the NLL may look like as soon as next season.
Buffalo Bandits: We start off in Buffalo, where the jersey isn't all that different. There's a slightly different cut and it appears a different material, most likely the material referenced by the Minnesota Swarm a few days back. The only other noticeable difference is "Reebok" written over the logo, something that appears on all of the new jerseys. Overall, its basically the same as before, so I can't be too critical. The Bandits don't really step out of the box a ton with their jerseys. I just hope the 20th anniversary thirds make a return this year.

Calgary Roughnecks: Now, Calgary's new jerseys are very different. Calgary has basically had the same jersey since coming into the league in 2001, and their jerseys did need an upgrade. These jerseys are different, that's for sure. On the sides the black slowly fades to red, a nice accent. The jersey appears to be a more crisp red than previously, and that makes the jersey pop. It features a new alternate logo that can be seen on the shoulders, and R next to an oil rig. Although that's not the most creative, the logo looks really nice. Overall, the Roughnecks pass the jersey test.
Colorado Mammoth: Colorado probably has the most radical jerseys. Lots of vertical striping! The mountain accent looks sleeker than it did on the old jerseys, but I still think this jersey is a tad busy. I liked the simplicity of the old jerseys, they looked really classic. Obviously the new NLL jerseys are anything but classic. The ends of the sleeves have "Colorado" and "Mammoth" written on them, which makes the sleeves look less bare. This is a jersey I need to see on a player. Could look great, could look terrible in my opinion. Colorado has also announced an anniversary jersey, as well as their white jersey. All of the jerseys can be seen here
Edmonton Rush: Edmonton's jersey looks very classic and stylish. Nice grey accent striped to go along with the black. Edmonton in my eyes has always had some strange unis, so this is my favorite they've ever had. The only beef I have with this jersey is that it basically says Edmonton twice. You have the big noticeable Edmonton written across the front, but in the logo it says Edmonton as well. I'm sure fans can't wait to support the Edmonton Edmonton Rush! All kidding aside this jersey looks pretty cool.
Minnesota Swarm: Earlier in the week we saw the Minnesota Swarm unveil their white jerseys. Now we get a good look at the blues. On these jerseys the honey comb is yellow instead of the grey that is on the white jerseys. The yellow seems to make the jersey flow more. The grey seemed slightly abrupt. These jerseys don't look all that different from the previous, if anything they look a tad better. Nothing too extreme or unexpected.
Philadelphia Wings: The Wings jerseys have been out for a while now, so this is not our first look at them. I'm not going to lie, I do not like this jersey. First of all, Calgary and Philly look way too similar. Almost the same color, same fading from red to black on the sides. Secondly, why are the shoulder patches facing towards you on the front of the jersey. Its hard to see in this picture, but there will be three logos on the front of the jersey. Just doesn't look right. This is my least favorite of all the new jerseys.
Rochester Knighthawks: Didn't Rochester just get new jerseys like yesterday? I was a real fan of the jerseys they had before these, looked so sharp. This jersey just looks boring. They are back to the classic logo (which doesn't look as good as the newer logo) and seem to have no shoulder logos or anything of that nature. Hopefully this isn't the finished project, cause it just about puts me to sleep.
Toronto Rock: Like the Bandits, Toronto's jerseys are basically the same as the jerseys that they had before. However, like the Wings, they felt the need to have they shoulder logos facing forwards. God, I do not like that one bit. Looks way too busy. Besides that I've loved the Rock's unis for a while, I've always thought they were the best in the league.
Washington Stealth: We finish off with the Western Conference Champion Washington Stealth, This jersey is one of my favorite as well. Some might say its a tad busy, but the color scheme just jumps out at me. I like that they are using the Washington logo as the primary, I've always thought it looked sharp and helped distinguish them from the San Jose Stealth. I don't know what a fox has to do with the Stealth (even if their mascot is a fox), but I do like the new alternate logo. They add some accents to the logo to honor the native American heritage of the game, which was a nice feature as well. Like Colorado, the added the team name to the ends of the sleeves, with "Washington" on one end and "Stealth" on the other. Just looks great to me.
The NLL has always had an obvious objective when it came to their jerseys: Let people know who the team is. Since lacrosse is no where near mainstream, how is a person supposed to know that that's a Buffalo Bandits jersey. Have you ever noticed that the Colorado Mammoth are the only team in the league who's name isn't in there logo? This league needs to be noticed, and like it or not, all of these jerseys are noticeable. What do you think about the new jerseys, which is your favorite and which is the worst? Comment below!

Since Reebok now wants their wordmark logo on all the jerseys they make, I guess the league figured it would be a good time to redesign. It seems like a lot of the teams are moving away from the gimmicky jerseys (although I’m glad Colorado kept the mountains).
As for my favourite team, Washington, I though their old uniforms were pretty good, but I don’t mind them emphasizing the State outline logo and fox more.
The only problem I really have with these is that the lack of arm striping kind of makes them look like practice jerseys. Reminds me of when Reebok took over the NHL uniforms and eliminated most of the stripes.
I forgot to mention that while the new Rush Jersey is nice, it was really lazy of them to leave the “Edmonton” text in the Rush logo. Last time I checked, they aren’t the “Edmonton Edmonton Rush”…
Yup, that was lazy
but the uniforms are nice
