Sources: 2012 NALL Season To Be Postponed
According to multiple sources in the North American Lacrosse League, the 2012 season will be postponed and not start in January like it was originally planned. Those sources also said that the season would be re scheduled for the fall and training camp would still be on for next week. Players were informed tonight, according to a source.
Things will not be finalized until the owner's meeting on Wednesday. Five teams including the new Boston franchise is on board with this plan. One reason is that Hershey was having arena problems, and NALL wanted to play in the fall to avoid conflicts with the NLL. They also may have a national TV deal in place if they play during the fall, one source said.
The move is not 100% final yet as the owner's meeting needs to take place but it looks like this will be the decision made and the planning process is in place. Once the owner's meetings are over, the league should announce this move this week. Some sources were actually unaware about this move until later on in the night but later confirmed it. Others denied comment.
This also explains why the NALL Supplemental Draft was postponed earlier today. The current rosters are likely to remain in place for the fall season.
The unfortunate thing was all the progress NALL had made. Just this week the Bullies had signed Dan Cocchi and Stephen Berger while hiring Paul Stewart to be an assistant head coach. This also means one less lacrosse league to follow this January, but it will be good to have some pro boxla in fall.
Stay tuned to In Lax We Trust as we continue to learn more about the situation this upcoming week.
