Rattlers Go Out Without Bite
On Thursday, the Rochester Rattlers faced a do-or-die situation where they had to beat the Long Island Lizards in order to give themselves a shot at getting one of the four coveted playoff seeds. Once the game began, things started to look bleak for the Rattlers as the Lizards leaped out to a 9-0 lead before Grant Catalino got a 2 pointer with the assist going to Ned Crotty off of a power play to close out the first half.
Things seemed to have turned around for the Rattlers in the second half when Streibel scored a goal and then followed that up with a 2 pointer to close the gap to 9-5 in the first five and a half minutes. Yet, low and behold, the Lizards got back to scoring and closed out the game early as they walked away with a 15-6 victory.

Stephen Peyser scored three 2 pointers during this game to earn my MVP and also to outscore all of Rochester by himself. This game was looked very clinical for the Lizards as they won the ground ball battle 40 to 24 and also went 10 for 19 on face offs. The shot count was also very heavy in Long Island's favor with them having 57 shots (31 on goal) while Rochester only had 38 (21 on goal).

The Rattlers did not play like a team fighting for their life. If they were to have lost, I would have rather saw a hard fought battle like many of their games that they lost at the beginning of the season. Look towards the Rattlers starting to rebuild for next year now that they have lost their shot at the playoffs and all they can do now is play the role of spoiler to the Chesapeake Bayhawks next week.
