Boston Cannons Embraced Throughout New England After Championship
Boston is known as the city of champions after a decade of winning. The Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots have all seen their respective trophies passed along the city of Boston in celebration. Now it is time for another team to shine.
The Boston Cannons have joined Title Town USA with their recent Steinfeld Cup championship in Major League Lacrosse. Considered a niche sport, the Cannons do not get a lot of attention around New England, just happy with a mention in the papers here and there. But winning cures all, so they say.
The Cannons are starting to get notoriety around Massachusetts, with even mayor Tom Menino congratulating the champs. The Cannons were written about on websites such as NESN, Comcast Sports Net New England, The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, and WEEI. The Cannons also got attention on ESPN's SportsCenter, CSNNE's SportsNet Central and NESN's NESN Daily on television.
Just adding to the city of champions, the Cannons will get a hero's welcome in Beantown. Get the duck boats ready as the millions will flock the street to celebrate. Oh wait, that was for the Bruins? The Cannons won't have duck boats? That's ok, because the Cannons are being embraced throughout New England, even though no one knows who they are.

Exposure Coming?
Just announced today (assumedly after this post), the Boston Cannons will be on hand at Fenway Park Saturday where the Red Sox will honour the Cannons win. Great partnership and recognition on the part of the Sox. My question: will it translate into more fans for lacrosse?
Remember, as my lacrosse coach use to tell us on the field, always keep your head up, and your feet moving forward.
I hope so!
Baseball and lacrosse normally don’t mix (except me and I know you’re a Jays fan). But any publicity is good and I think Boston is a good lacrosse area. This could be a big boost because everyone likes a winner, so this could be huge for the future of Boston lacrosse.
