NLL Mock Draft Number Three: Post Boston Blazers Dispersal Edition
We have had a lot of NLL Mock Draft's on In Lax We Trust. However, most of the ones we have seen will not be accurate. Why is that? They were all written before the Boston Blazers dispersed. With them now gone and their players on other teams, the draft selection plans from the NLL teams are sure to have changed. The Toronto Rock no longer have a pick, and the Blazers are not there to pick. So the draft you see right here? Yeah, this one might be more accurate.
1. Philadelphia Wings: Kevin Crowley
The Philadelphia Wings are going to select Kevin Crowley! There is more of a chance of them taking Crowley than there is a chance of the Anaheim Storm never coming back. We all know it, he is going to be playing side by side with Dan Dawson and the Wings will be dangerous.
2. Rochester Knighthawks: Stephen Keogh
Keogh is just as good as Crowley is, however Crowley is a bit bigger and might fit into the Philly system a bit better. The KHawks are very happy with Keogh, who is an east coast guy and can complement Casey Powell, a new Knighthawk.
3. Colorado Mammoth: Adam Jones
Jones is arguably the most talented player in the draft. He can score, create transition and pass like crazy. He is a star player in the making if used right. If not for the knee injuries he suffered in college, he would have been the first pick to Philadelphia. Jones can help the Mammoth improve their offense, so he is the natural pick here.
4. Minnesota Swarm: Jordan MacIntosh
Johnny Powless could go here. But I have a strong feeling that Jordan MacIntosh will be an Insect (what us here at InLax call a Swarm player... get it?). MacIntosh can help with the Swarm's sudden rebuilding plan and youth movement while contributing to the offense this season.
5. Calgary Roughnecks: Johnny Powless
This is an interesting kid. Johnny Poweless is an 18 year old who just announced last week that he would partake in the NLL draft. As soon as this was announced, the Calgary Roughnecks began to salivate. Full of talent, the question is if an 18 year old is capable at playing at the NLL level. Even if not this year, he will be in years upcoming.
6. Minnesota Swarm: Jordan McBride
McBride may not be the best prospect in this draft, and his haters don't even see him as a first rounder, but with two picks in the first round McBride can be a valuable player to the Swarm. He was a rookie of the year candidate with the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse. It will likely take him a year of adjustment in box, but if he reaches his potential he can be a good player.
7. Calgary Roughnecks: Jeremy Thompson
Thompson was a rookie with the Hamilton Nationals this season, and like many of the rookies on that Nationals team, he has a lot of promise and can contribute in the NLL. The Roughnecks can just continue to add young studs into their future lineup.
8. Colorado Mammoth: Evan Kirk
What do I really think will happen with Evan Kirk? I think that the Toronto Rock will trade up from the second round to draft Kirk. They are really the only team in the NLL who needs a goaltender. However, this is a mock draft for what slots players are selected, and Kirk will be selected in the eighth slot.
