NLL Week Four: Three Stars Of The Week
With six games on the schedule last weekend, Week four of the National Lacrosse League was the busiest weekend of the season thus far. That meant there were more performances to examine for three stars, but only the best three made the list.
3.) Shawn Williams - Edmonton Rush
Shawn Williams had one of the best offensive game for the Rush in their 16-5 blowout win over the Washington Stealth on Saturday night. Williams had three goals and three assists for the Rush, Williams is now the points and assists leader for the Rush and is two goals behind Zack Greer for the team lead in goals as well.
2.) Josh Sanderson - Toronto Rock
Josh Sanderson had been struggling offensively in the first two games of the season as he only had one goal and four assists. But, in the Rock's two victories this weekend, Sanderson contributed in a big way with six goals and eight assists. On Friday night against the Rochester Knighthawks, Sanderson had three goals and two assists on 10 shots on goal. Saturday night, Sanderson added another three goals and six assists in the overtime victory. Sanderson now sits second on the Rock with 19 total points, one point behind Garret Billings.
1.) Aaron Bold - Edmonton Rush
When a goaltender allows only five goals in a game, it earns the first star of the week most weeks. Bold made 43 saves on 48 shots on goal against the Stealth and shutout the Stealth in the fourth quarter to finish out the game. The five goals against performance gives Bold the league lead in goals against average with 9.00 which is 2.14 goals higher than second place Mike Poulin. He also leads the league in save percentage with a .824, .055 higher than second place Mike Poulin.
