Overlooked: Five NLL Sleepers for Final Ten Weeks
The NLL is full of super stars with just nine teams left in this league, but there are some players who could step up in the final ten weeks of the season. Who can we watch in these last games?
Evan Kirk: Minnesota Swarm- Is it a little premature to get excited about Evan Kirk? He has only played in one NLL game, but in it he gave up only six goals to the Rochester Knighthawks. The KHawks are a hard team to judge, with little leadership, but they have been able to score 22 goals in a game. Nick Patterson seems to be out in Minnesota, but Tyler Carlson has played well also. But with Kirk's performance, he could be someone to watch.
Mike Accursi: Rochester Knighthawks- Accursi has already had a great season with 29 points, but he has not really got the recognition. Maybe it has to do with the Rochester Knighthawks being inconsistent, but as a team who needs someone as a veteran to step up for this team and help the KHawks make a run.
Brett Bucktooth: Washington Stealth- Bucktooth was one of the most surprising cuts from the Buffalo Bandits before the season, and there were even rumors of him signing with NALL's Jacksonville Bullies. However, he was picked up by the Stealth, and last week had a hat trick against his former team the Bandits. He might be a player to watch long term for a Stealth team that needs to pick it up.
Ryan Ward: Edmonton Rush- Just a couple of seasons ago, Ward led the Rush in scoring. Last year he struggled along with the rest of the team. With Aaron Wilson in the mix, Edmonton is an improved offensive team. However, not as much as they thought with an Athan Iannucci signing looking doubtful. Ward is a player, with 17 points, who could explode to help lead the Rush.
Jamie Rooney: Toronto Rock- The one thing that makes me worry about this pick is that Toronto is still super talented, but the loss of Blaine Manning and Colin Doyle could mean that Jamie Rooney does a little bit more. Josh Sanderson is already great down low at the net, and having Rooney and Sanderson good at that, it could benefit the Rock.
