Knighthawks Soar Past Last Place Stealth, 15-12
This was an interesting and important game for both the Rochester Knighthawks and the Washington Stealth. The Knighthawks were without five of their top players, including leading scorers Cody Jamieson and Jordan Hall. Meanwhile, the Stealth, 1-4 on the season, had traded away Paul Rabil and acquired Athan Iannucci.
Let's see how it would turn out. The Stealth led after one period with the score 4-2. Lewis Ratcliff and Matt Beers would have a goal a piece, and Rhys Duch would have two. For the Knighthawks, defensemen Pat McCready and Scott Campbell found the back of the net.
It would be 6-5 Stealth at the half. Craig Point scored two second quarter goals in his return to NLL action after a knee injury kept him out for the start of the season. The Knighthawks would still be down a goal after the third period. Rhys Duch would score his third goal for the hat trick, and they were still up a goal heading into the fourth.
This is where things exploded for the Knighthawks. They would score seven fourth quarter goals to the Stealth's three, and that would seal the win for them. Craig Point, Mike Accursi and Pat McCready all stepped up tonight with a hat trick apiece. Ryan Cousins also made his return, his KHawks debut, on the Rochester defense.
For the Stealth, Rhys Duch would have four goals along with Lewis Ratcliff. Athan Iannucci had a goal and two assists in his Washington debut. Ratcliff and Duch would combine for 26 of Washington's 62 shots, with Iannucci picking up five of them.
Tyler Richards made 47 saves on 62 shots from the Knighthawks. Matt Vinc faced the same amount of shots, but made 50 saves, and that was the difference in the game.
The final score would be Knighthawks 15, Stealth 12. Next Friday the Knighthawks travel to Toronto and the Stealth host the Minnesota Swarm.
