NLL Power Rankings: Week Eight
This was a pretty mellow week with most of the top teams winning and the lower teams losing save for Philadelphia beating Toronto. The games had a theme of being close in the first half and then the goals opening up in the second. Out of the 88 goals scored in the four games, 51 of them (58%) were scored in the second half. In fact, the number of goals scored in the fourth quarter (31) was almost equal to all of the goals in the first half (37).
Like always, if you agree or disagree with my picks, let me know in the comments below.

Colorado is off to their best start at 6-0. With a two game lead over Calgary and Philadelphia and no signs of slowing down, the Mammoth are clearly the top seed until they self destruct. Next: Calgary, Feb 24th |

Calgary is back on the right track after suffering their two game losing skid a little while back. Mike Poulin was solid in goal while Curtis Dickson and Jeff Shattler lead the offense. This coming week could be a preview of the Western finals and their last match up went into overtime. Next: at Colorado, Feb 24th |

So, I guess Dan Dawson, Brendan Mundorf, and Kevin Crowley are pretty good at lacrosse. Each of them scoring at least eight points with Dawson getting ten. Holding Toronto to single digit goals is a good thing to see and wipes a little bit of the Rochester loss out of my mind. Next: at Edmonton, Feb 24th |

Just as the Rock were looking good, they lose big thanks to not being able to keep up with Philly's scoring. I'm going out on a limb and blaming this loss on the return of Colin Doyle (I'm not actually blaming it on him). The Rock have a losing record when he plays and a winning record when he doesn't. Maybe he should get shipped to Edmonton where he would sit out and the Rush would win because Doyle isn't playing. Next: Rochester, Feb 24th |

Minnesota played a decent game but that is it. They weren't able to score much against Chris Levis (85.1% save percentage) and the rest of the Colorado defense. Combine that with the leading scorer being Andrew Watt with two goals and you're having some slight problems. Next: at Washington, Feb 24th |
|
3-4 |
Rochester came out and played a good game against Washington to get the win. I was amazed by how well they played without Jamieson. Accursi really stepped up in his absence by scoring a hat trick. Next: at Toronto, Feb 24th |
|
1-4 |
Edmonton once again falls short. I'm still convinced that they are better than 1-4 but eventually I know that I will wise up. It seems like in addition to a bunch of players not wanting to play in Edmonton (looking at you Rabil and Nooch), looks like wins are also scared of EDM. Next: Philadelphia, Feb 24th |
|

Buffalo was idle last week. Next: Bye |

Washington plays another game and loses. It's seeming like a trend that we won't see the end of soon. The game was winnable but then the Stealth collapsed late in the fourth quarter. Good news, Duch and Ratcliff played well and Iannucci got his first goal of the season. Next: Minnesota, Feb 24th |

No complaints on these. The top teams are separating from the rest of the pack.

I guess I was wrong on Philly, but they should be this good with their roster.
Edmonton is so tough with all that has gone there. Bold and the defense are legit but they do lack for a top end shooting talent on offense. Of course that is exactly what they tried to acquire in the off season.
And it is probably worth repeating that the Mammoth and ’Necks have the same record in regulation. That two game gap is really razor thin. This week should be epic.
