NLL Weekly Head Coaches Media Conference Call for Week #6

The weekly NLL head coaches media conference call for week #6 just recently ended and everyone is pumped for this weekends four games.

First game up was Edmonton at Minnesota (Derek Keenan & Mike Lines).

Edmonton’s Keenan, talked about Minnesota being the top scoring team in the league, as well as having the fastest play. Keenan talked about Edmonton needing to work on their offensive spacing, an their transition to defense.
Speaking of Kyle Rubisch being named to the West All-Star team, Keenan of course had nothing but good things to say, and talked about how Kyle plays like he is a veteran and not just a 2nd year player in the league.

Minnesota’s Mike Lines talking about Andrew Suitor and Jordan MacIntosh both being named to the West All-Star team, said that it’s great to have newer players working hard, and that they are both great assets to the team. Lines also talked a bit about goalie Tyler and mentioned that while he has some work to do, that he is doing good and blames their defense more for goals getting scored against Tyler.

The next game up was Rochester at Minnesota (Mike Hasen & Mike Lines).

Rochester’s Mike Hasen talking about last weeks game against Minnesota, said that they were happy with the performance from the team, and that he felt like they battled for the full 60 minutes. He said that they have to stay tough and play the full 60 minutes because Minnesota just "keep coming, no matter what time of the game."

Minnesota’s Mike Lines talked about them not playing the full 60 minutes last week and that if they don’t play the full 60 minutes this time that they will probably have the same result.

The next game talked about was Calgary at Washington (Dave Pym & Chris Hall)

Washington’s head coach Chris Hall said he is 3 weeks into his recovery, and that he will not be on the bench this weekend, but hopes to be back on the bench for their home game on the 24th. As for the last game, Hall said it was nice to see the big scores come back and start scoring again.

Calgary’s Dave Pym talking about coming back from a week off, said that the time off has been nice and has helped them recharge their batteries and give time to be with their other family. Pym had some rough feelings about their past games, and that they didn’t play well against Colorado, and that they need to stop the penalties and they will hold the guys responsible for the actions.

Next game up was Buffalo at Philadelphia (Darris Kilgour & Johnny Mouradian).

Buffalo’s Darris Kilgour mentioned how this game is very important to break their losing streak, but that this will be a tough game. Kilgour talking about his players that made the NLL All-Star game will be nice for them as it will be in Buffalo and they will have been traveling before that. When asked about John Tavares, Kilgour had a lot of great things to say, including that John is the smartest player to play, and even as he is getting older he is still going fast and that everyone is one step behind him.

Philadelphia’s Johnny Mouradian talked about how they need to stop other teams from getting up 3+ goals, and that they are playing well when they are in a 1-2 point deficit, but when they get to that 3+ goal deficit that it is hard for them to come back and catch their breath. When asked about Kevin Crowley, said that they aren’t too worried about what some are calling some poor performance, and that Kevin just needs to slow down the game because he is rushing things.

That wrapped up the coaches conference, and from the sounds of the coaches, this weekends games should be really great to watch.
